THE PROCEDURE

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Your looks are greatly influenced by the size and shape of your nose. Even slight alterations to the nose can make a vast improvement to your appearance. That’s why rhinoplasty is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures.

When performing a nose job, Dr. Diamond uses his aesthetic and technical skills to literally shape your nose in a manner that is most flattering to your face. To access nasal bone and cartilage, Dr. Diamond makes the necessary incisions inside of the nose, where they cannot be seen.

Patients generally feel comfortable being seen in public about one week following surgery.

Some patients choose to have chin implants along with a nose job to create a better balance of facial features.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) Revision

When evaluating a revision rhinoplasty patient Dr. Diamond will review in great detail your previous procedure to determine exactly what has been done and what went wrong so that he can fix the underlying mistakes. This procedure usually requires strengthening the weakened underlying cartilage structure and Dr. Diamond uses many different techniques to achieve this goal. Dr. Diamond will use cartilage from your septum as a primary cartilage source and if this is unavailable because of previous surgery, he will use ear cartilage or rib cartilage or a synthetic cartilage-like material. "Every patient is different, and the procedure has to be perfectly tailored to each person. Some people don't like the idea of cutting on their chest or ears to harvest cartilage and therefore I may use a synthetic material that performs the same function as cartilage. Other people wish to avoid any man-made material being used in their nose and for them I use their own cartilage", says Dr. Diamond. A majority of revision rhinoplasty procedures are performed using the open rhinoplasty technique, although there are some that Dr. Diamond will do using the closed technique, depending on the individual's anatomy and specific problems. Dr. Diamond is an expert at strengthening the weakened underlying structure of the nose to make the nose look great and to make it function well. Dr. Diamond says, "The best looking noses often have strong and sculpted cartilages that exert enough pressure on the overlying skin to give a very elegant appearance and this strength is often lost when a rhinoplasty was not performed correctly. A majority of the time those noses that look the best also work the best for breathing purposes". Dr. Diamond is an experienced expert using every form of grafting including columella struts, lateral crural strut grafts, caudal septal extension grafts, spreader grafts, tip grafts, dorsal grafts and alar rim grafts. "Some people require one or some of the above mentioned grafts, others require all of the above depending on their particular situation", says Dr. Diamond. Rhinoplasty and Revision Rhinoplasty require an advanced understanding of the nasal anatomy and functionality, and a very high level of surgical skill is required to perform these procedures. Dr. Diamond says, "Most importantly, these procedures require a certain sense artistry that is unique to rhinoplasty and that is probably the biggest reason why I am so passionate about and truly love performing these procedures".
