Facial flaws and signs of premature aging camouflage the spirit within you. Whenyour appearance doesn’t reflect your true beauty, it can dampen your self-confidence and even influence the way others relate to you.
Below are some procedures Dr. Diamond offers to bring out your unique appeal.
Browlift Surgery / Upper Eyelid
Creating balance between the upper third and lower two thirds of the face
If you look angry, sad or tired when you don't feel that way, it may be because your eyebrows have gradually fallen. Brow lifts reverse this process, restoring a more youthful, rested look to the eyebrows and upper eyelids.
As a Beverly Hills board certified facial plastic specialist, I see people from all over the world who wish to have corrective facial rejuvenation. One of the most common complaints that I hear from people who have had facial rejuvenation elsewhere is that they look surprised, hollowed out, and overall unnatural.
The upper third of the face includes the brows and upper eyelids. This area is one of the first regions of the face to develop a tired or aged appearance. Upper eyelid rejuvenation is very successful in helping to restore a youthful and rested appearance.
In the past, the goal of upper eyelid rejuvenation was to remove as much extra skin, muscle, and fat as possible. The problem with this approach is that a hollowed skeleton- like appearance is far too often the result and this does a person no favors as it creates an unnatural and aged look as well.
As our knowledge of facial aesthetics has grown, we have realized that volume in the face is an essential component to youth and beauty and, therefore, the goals of upper eyelid surgery have changed. Now we remove only the skin and fat that are truly in excess, and this is much less than that which we used to routinely excise. The result is a very natural and more youthful appearance.
Similarly, the goals of brow lifting are different today than they were in the past. We have all seen people who look surprised because their eyebrows are far too high up on the forehead (usually from the older brow lift procedures). When examining a youthful face carefully, it is quite clear that the brows are not high up on the forehead and only slightly higher than the upper orbital ridge. Furthermore, there is volume beneath the tail of the brow that dissipates with age. Therefore, the main aspect of the brow that needs lifting is usually the tail of the brow, with minimal, if any, need to lift the middle of the brow.
Most faces that have aged significantly show a loss of volume to the brow region and this effectively causes the outer aspect of the brow to fall. As a result, the most natural and most aesthetically pleasing results from brow lifting come from lifting the outer aspect of the brow more than the middle of the brow, as well as restoring volume to the brow when needed.
We are now able to create a natural rejuvenation to the upper, middle, and lower third of the face in a way that is far superior to that of the past. The results are youthful, beautiful and perhaps, most importantly, natural. The trend in facial plastic surgery is rejuvenation at a younger age as people need to stay competitive with their younger competition, particularly in the workforce, and as a result it is essential that a person can return to work looking and feeling rested and youthful without the tell tale signs that facial rejuvenation used to create. People undergoing facial rejuvenation can no longer afford to look weird or pulled, and thanks to our advanced skill, techniques and understanding, we can now safely and consistently give people results that were not possible in the past.
To correct drooping brows and minimize horizontal lines and furrows, Dr. Diamond performs brow lifts using a newer technique called the “endoscopic brow lift.” The conventional surgical method involves an incision from ear to ear. In contrast, endoscopic surgery involves making tiny holes in the scalp which cannot be seen afterwards and inserting a tiny, pencil-like camera to view and elevate the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. The result is a more youthful appearance to the brows and forehead. Most patients can return to their regular activities within a week following surgery.
Brow lifts are often performed in conjunction with face lifts in order to provide a smoother overall look to the face. Eyelid surgery may also be performed at the same time as a brow lift.
