When tweezers just won't cut it!
When gravity starts taking a serious toll on brows, it may be time to bring out the big guns. Injections and brow-lifts can create a sexier, more youthful appearance, say Dr. 90210's Jason B. Diamond, M.D. Here, he explains the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of brow-lifts.
The Doctor's Office:
Botox
Botox can provide anything from a slight to a substantial brow-lift. Injections on the forehead or under the brow can create a lift that lasts about three months.
Avg. cost: $300.00
Endoscopic Brow-Lift
The most common form of surgical lift, tiny incisions are made in the hairline, through which the brow is sculpted.
Pros: No visible scars, reduction of frown lines and minimal downtime (one week).
Avg. cost: $4,000-6000.
Subcutaneous Brow-Lift
After incisions are made at the hairline, excess skin is pulled, cut and removed. Pros: Since skin is removed, the taut effect may last longer than endoscopic surgery.
Cons: Potential visible scars at incisions, and frown lines between eyes are not zapped.
Avg. cost: $4,000-6,000.
Coronal Brow-Lift
Cutting from ear to ear across the scalp's middle, the entire forehead is raised. Excess skin is removed and the forehead is reattached.
Pros: Likely the longest-lasting procedure.
Cons: The most invasive procedure, this can leave a large scar and require longer downtime (two weeks).
Avg. cost: $7,000.
