As a board certified Facial Plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, I have had a huge amount of experience in tightening the neck and jaw line of many men and women. I am relied upon by my patients to produce the best neck and jaw line in facial plastic surgery. Many patients have informed me they have already had unacceptable work by other surgeons. There are many different methods to tighten the neck and jaw line including mini-facelifts, full facelifts, necklifts, cheeklifts and chin augmentations. All of the above procedures have their place in facial rejuvenation depending on the individual’s anatomy.
The platysma muscle is the muscle under the chin that contributes to “the turkey gobbler or turkey neck”. There is often excess fat beneath the platysma muscle and most facelifts do not address that fat. Most facelifts address the fat above the platysma muscle just beneath the skin but not the fat beneath the platysma muscle. Unlike the standard facelift procedure, removing the fat beneath the platysma results in achieving the most attractive and defined neck possible.
The most powerful technique to improve the region under the chin is an aggressive removal of the subplatysmal fat and an aggressive tightening of the platysma muscle with a technique known as the corset platysmaplasty. This can be done in combination with any of the above mentioned procedures. Superior results of the subplatysmal fat removal and corset platysmaplasty can be achieved by customizing a chin implant to further strengthen and define the jaw line.
To create a neck and jaw line like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt the subplatysmal fat removal and corset platysmaplasty along with a customized chin implant are often the only techniques that will allow these desired results.
